What is an Inchworm?
The Inchworm, is a full-body exercise that increases strength and flexibility. For this impactful exercise you don’t need any equipment. The inchworm strengthens your arms, chest, upper back, lower back and helps you to reduce stubborn belly fat.
Step by Step guide to perform Inchworm
Step 1: Stand straight with feet shoulder width apart.
Step 2: Hinge your body forward and reach your arms down toward the ground.
Step 3: Walk your hands out in front of you along the floor, keeping your feet in place.
Step 4:Walk with your hands till you enter a plank-like position, hold it for a second.
Step 5:Start walking back towards your feet & finally return to a standing position.
What are the benefits of an Inchworm?
Inchworm strengthening the core, shoulders, back and chest, at the same stretching out the hamstrings and calves.
It is one of the amazing full body exercise and when do with faster pace can turn your exercise into High intensity interval training (HIIT).
How to modify an Inchworm as per your body?
- If you have trouble reaching your hands the floor, bend your knees slightly.
- Once you are in plank position, add a push-ups while you’re in plank position to make your inchworm more impactful.
- If you have injured or weak knees, bend your knees slightly throughout the exercise to feel less strain and less pressure.
- If you feel strain on your wrists, place a rolled towel on your mat to the place where you hold the plank positions.
